Is the runup in Spam meat product caused by advertizing

There has been lots of talk about how spam is doing relative to the market, due to it use as a replacement good for real meat.

However, I think there is an easier explanation. Anyone who has a gmail account knows when they go to empty their spam folder, a recipe featuring tasty spam shows up at the top.

As gmail has grown in popularity, so has spams popularity.
