Big Government made schools and sewers

This Bloggingheads video is incredible, as it makes the case for big government that brings up the real benefits of government.

We forget about sewers, schools, fire stations, police, and all the rest, but it was government that accomplished this stuff, not the private sector.

It did not happen by accident, and it had never been done before.

drive around Bangalore India for a while, to see the pathetic roads, open / cracked / early terminus sewers, that the underfunded government has not upgraded since the Britsh installed most of them 100 years ago. Infrastructure here has a very open interpretation. A billion+ people, squeezed tightly together, edging past each other by mob-rule. Let the US infrastructure continue to crumble, and in another 60 or 80 years, it can certainly resemble India's at the dawn of the 21st century. Ew.

No one really appreciates the infrastructure, until it is gone.
